In the Leaders’ Declaration adopted in Santiago in 2004 regarding the Regional Trading Arrangements and Free Trade Agreements (RTAs/FTAs), Leaders “agreed that they play a constructive role in accelerating liberalization in the region, thus contributing to the achievement of the Bogor Goals and advancing the WTO process”. Regional integration movements in the APEC region based on RTAs/FTAs are active these years and this project could show to what extent these movements have been contributing to making free and open trade within the APEC region.
